If you’re like me, you can’t wear cheap/fun earrings…of course they would have to be my favorite kind:[ My earlobes have a bad reaction to the metal. So much so, that they become red, swollen, tender and hurt for days. Should we give up our cheap/fun earrings? NEVER!!! Polish them! I polish the posts with clear nail polish, which makes a barrier between the metal and my ears. No more pain!!! I also paint the inside of costume jewelry, to avoid the blackish green marks it can leave on my skin.

I’ve been doing this trick for 40+ years. It’s great isn’t it?
It’s wonderful! I can wear my tacky holidays earrings, which makes me very happy:)
Absolutely! I have the same problem and use the same technique and it works like a charm!
Isn’t it great? I’m so glad I saw this tip somewhere years ago. It would have been so sad to go through life without tacky earrings! What would I have done in the 90’s? LOL!!!
Nice to know I’m not the only one who can’t wear non-hypoallergenic metal without an issue! I was a teenager when I got my ears pierced and discovered I had a problem wearing fun, age appropriate earrings. I found myself stuck with wearing the initial studs you get when you get your ears pierced until my parents bought me gold or sterling silver earrings. Even my metal rimmed eye glasses give me a fit since the paint has rubbed off on one side near my cheek. I will try adding some clear nail polish to see if I can get some more use out of these glasses before buying a new pair. Thanks for the tip!
You poor thing! I suffered for fashion for a few years before I learned this little beauty:) I hope this works for you! Make sure to reapply often, because that sounds like a place that would rub quite a bit. Let me know how it works out:)
